Empower India’s
Forgotten Youth

Each year, over 50,000 Indian youth face a bleak reality as they turn 18, forced to leave their care homes (orphanages) without support or hope for their future.

You can make a profound and lasting impact in their lives by donating to their education and career development.

Abandoned once as a child, and again at age 18: the plight of youth in care homes

Abandoned once as a child, and again at age 18: the plight of youth in care homes

Approximately 400,000 children live in care homes: orphans, victims of homelessness, child labor, trafficking, sexual violence, poverty, and starvation.
Overcrowded care homes often lack good nutrition, education, and healthcare.
Every year, 50,000 youth who turn 18 are forced to leave, with poor education, no financial support, or skills to survive on their own.
Together, we can help them break the cycle of poverty and marginalization.

The return on each dollar rarely feels this satisfying, or so rewarding.

When I turned 18 and left the Mission (care home), my family members said I had to get married. If I went against my family, I would have had to live on the streets. AFEC helped me get training and a job, and now I have financial freedom.

After I turned 18, I did not know what I was going to do next. I was very scared. Through AFEC I became an Auxiliary Nurse Midwife and I am now earning Rs 16,000/month.
